Dear Falcon Family,
Welcome to another awesome year at Colton Middle School! I am grateful to be a part of the incredible team of teachers and staff who come to work each day to make a positive impact in the lives of the kids in our community.
This is my 17th year in education. I began my journey as a classified support staff employee, then transitioned into a high school math teacher role, and later into administration. I bring a wealth of knowledge to the Colton community through my experiences and educational background. I went to California State University in Los Angeles for my bachelor's degree, then the University of La Verne, where I earned my credentials, two master's degrees, and my doctoral degree. My dissertation focused on parent involvement at the secondary level, specifically parent volunteerism.
Our focus at Colton Middle School this year will be on helping students gain literacy so they can have the knowledge and skills to thrive in high school, college, and careers. In the next few weeks and months, I will continue to share our vision for what we are doing as a faculty to help 100% of our students increase achievement in the following areas:
- Reading
- Writing
- Math
- Technical and media
- Art
- Kinesthetic
- Social studies
- Career and college preparedness
- Social, emotional well-being
- Leadership
How will we increase achievement? We will put our focus and attention on five areas (R.I.G.O.R.):
- Relationships with Students
- Instruction
- Goal Setting
- Organization
- Relevance
We will ensure that students are well-prepared for high school and beyond.
I will hold several Coffee and Collaboration meetings throughout the year to share with you WHAT we are doing and WHY we are doing it. I hope you can join me and work alongside me to make this year an amazing one for the kids and the community!
On a personal note, I have lived in the Inland Empire for the past 25 years. I have been married for 21 years, have two teenage children, plus our beloved dog named Mango.
